The main conference sessions will be held in the Mason Theatre within building E7B at Macquarie University. Morning and afternoon tea and coffee, and poster sessions will be in the Courtyard in the same building. There will be an opening reception held on the evening of Sunday July 1st, at MGSM, and registration on the monday morning (and afterwards) will be held in E7B 163. A large campus map showing the location of building E7B is available here.

Speakers are advised that PowerPoint or PDF presentations will be made using the computer installed in the lecture theatre, or on an apple laptop provided, unless specific software is required. Further details about software options are provided below. The lecture theatre also has an overhead projector.

All speakers are required to set up their talks during the break prior to their presentation so that we can test each presentation and ensure there are no problems.

Contributing Talks

All conference attendees are invited to contribute talks. Note that non-members of the ASA are welcome to present, but the ASA expects presenters to be members if this is not their first ASM.

All talks have been allocated 15 minutes, taking the form of 12 minutes + 3 minutes of questions. It is unlikely that any further talks will be accepted at this date.

If you wish to contribute a talk please indicate this on the registration form, giving the name of the talk and a brief abstract. We will try to accommodate all requests for talks, but if there are insufficient timeslots, some requests for talks may be assigned to poster sessions.

Available Software

Two computers (one PC and a Mac) will be available for presentations, and only in special circumstances (eg. a specific piece of software is to be demonstrated) will a presenter be allowed to use their own laptop. This will hopefully cut down on delays between presentations and prevent most of the problems associated with switching laptops at conferences.

Talks may be transferred to either computer using CD-ROM or USB memory sticks.

The resident PC is running Windows, has a fast internet connection and has the following software installed:

The mac is an iBook G4 running Mac OS 10.3.9 (Panther), will have access to the internet, and has the following software installed:

Note that we are unable to provide iWork (Keynote) due to budget constraints.

Should you require other software or hardware, please send an email to cathieb @ physics.mq.edu.au and we will discuss the options available.

Papers

All speakers are encouraged to submit papers to the Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia (PASA).

Prizes

Prizes, sponsored by the ATNF, will be awarded at the conference dinner for first and second places for the best student talks and posters.
