The ASA also presents talks open to the public, and the Annual Scientific Meeting includes the Harley Wood Lecture. More details can be found here, or as a printable flyer.

Harley Wood Winter School

The Harley Wood Winter School is an annual series of invited lectures and discussions for post-graduate astrophysics students. This will be taking place immediately before the ASA conference, from Thursday June 28th to Sunday July 1st, in the Hunter Valley.

Further details on the 2007 Harley Wood Winter School can be found here.

A function to remember Chris Christiansen will be held at the CSIRO Radiophysics labs in Vimiera Road, Marsfield on Thursday 5th July from 3:30pm after the ASA conference finishes. The program at this stage is flexible, although Godfrey Lucas has been asked to talk of the air navigation side of Chris's work at Elec Eng and Bob Frater will talk about some of the considerable outcomes of Chris's Fleurs Synthesis Telescope work.
If you going to attend, please e-mail Anne Barends, Executive Secretary, ATNF (anne.barends@csiro.au) so that they can organise appropriate catering.

The conference Galaxies in the Local Volume will focus on the distribution, kinematics and star formation of galaxies that reside within 10 Mpc. It will be held the week following the ASA2007 conference, from July 8 to 13, at the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) in Darling Harbour, Sydney.

The 18th International Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation (GRG18) and 7th Edoardo Amaldi Conference on Gravitational Waves (Amaldi7) are to be held in Sydney, Australia from 8-14 July 2007. This is the first occasion on which these two premier international conferences will be held simultaneously in the same location and represents a unique opportunity to bring together the world's leading scientists in the fields of General Relativity and Gravitation, and Gravitational Wave Detection and Astronomy.

The Elizabeth and Frederick White conference on the Magellanic System is taking place on the 16th and 17th of July, and will focus on: The simulated evolution of the Magellanic System; The development of the stellar component of the Magellanic system and the influence of a metal-weak environment; The distribution of the molecular material in the Magllanic System, and its relationship to the stellar population; and the properties of the Magellanic interstellar medium, differences, similarities of active processes.
